FED:Qantas and engineers' union agree to truce
There's been a breakthrough in one of the long-running disputes Qantas has been having
with three of its unions.
The Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association has agreed to a deal, following
the nationwide approval of union members.
The deal's believed to include annual pay rises of three per cent and allows Qantas
to bring in new work practices, including a new licence category.
It's due to go before Fair Work Australia this afternoon (2pm AEDT) but it's expected
to be late this month or early next year before the deal is ratified.
Separate disputes between the Transport Workers Union and the Australian and International
Pilots Association go to arbitration next year.
