Vic: Policeman resigns, pair charged over alleged moonlighting
A Victoria police officer has resigned following disciplinary charges against him and
another officer which alleged they moonlighted as truck drivers.
A police spokeswoman has confirmed the pair face charges over the alleged moonlighting incident.
Police Association assistant secretary BOB RYAN says the pair are middle-ranking officers
from the north-west Victorian town of Horsham.
They have been issued with disciplinary briefs of evidence and given a date for the
charges to be heard.
The spokesman says the force has a policy where permission can be granted for police
to work a second job but as long as there is no conflict of interest.
The Sunday Herald Sun has reported that up to seven officers may be charged, it's alleged
that officers tried to have speeding fines against them dropped.
Mr RYAN says he knows nothing of any other cases.
