NSW: A quarter of emergency patients wait more than 8 hrs: Opp

SYDNEY, Jan 2 AAP - A NSW government report has revealed that nearly a quarter of emergencypatients had to wait more than eight hours for admission to hospital in 2001-02, the Oppositionsaid today.

Opposition health spokeswoman Jillian Skinner said the NSW Health Department's annualreport revealed that in 2001-02 only 78 per cent of patients were admitted to a bed withineight hours.

This compared to 83 per cent four years ago when more people were attending emergencydepartments, she said.
