Number crunchers

A Bath-based software developer is helping the Audit Commissionby providing number-crunching programmes to compare performancelevels of NHS trusts around the country.

IPL, which employs about 240 people in the city centre, hashelped develop the largest and most complex dataset ever compiled bythe Government watchdog.

It will allow people to compare the relative performance of NHSorganisations for each type of procedure.

The Department of Health asked the commission to ensure there wasa way of confirming the accuracy of inpatient data.
